FEES & PAYMENT

Consultation Fees

Consultation fees are payable on the day of your consultation. A valid referral from your general practitioner or specialist is required to obtain a Medicare rebate for the consultation fee. The practice will electronically submit a claim on your behalf to Medicare and you will receive the rebate within 24 hours.

The Initial Consultation Fee is $210.00 (Medicare rebate $80.85). Follow-up consultations within 12 months for the same condition are bulk-billed.

To reschedule an appointment without providing at least 24 hours notice, upfront payment of the full consultation fee (non-refundable) is required.

Rapid Access Endoscopy Fees

Rapid Access Endoscopy is only available to patients with private health insurance. There is No Gap billing for the procedure and anaesthetic. There may be out-of-pocket costs for the hospital excess and pathology.

Surgical Procedure Fees

For Privately Insured Patients

Dr Ling participates in the No Gap scheme for breast cancer surgery and general surgery – meaning your health fund is billed directly and there will be no out-of-pocket costs to you for the surgical fee. There are out-of-pocket costs for breast implant removal and breast reduction surgeries. Please confirm with your health fund that you are covered for the procedure in a private hospital.

In addition to the surgical fee, the following providers will issue independent accounts

  • Anaesthetist
  • Surgical assistant
  • Hospital excess: this is the fixed amount that you agree to pay towards inpatient hospital treatment
  • Pathology: if your health fund does not have a no-gap agreement with Douglas Hanly Moir, you will receive an account for your pathology tests. The maximum out-of-pocket cost is capped at $500 per hospital stay.
  • Other hospital fees: pharmacy (if discharge medications are required), radiology

For Self-Funding Patients

If you wish to self-fund your procedure at a private hospital, the practice can provide you with an estimate of fees. Full payment is required 2 weeks prior to your procedure.
